I ordered these knowing I was going on a 3 day 250 mile ride and the weather didn't look favorable. Ended up being money well spent as it rained all of day one, and poured most of day three. I previously got a shower pass rain jacket and both worked amazingly well for how hard it rained, and how long I was riding in it. The first day the temperature was warmer, so I did sweat a bit. But the third day it was very cool (low 50's high 40's) and windy, on top of the rain, just a raw day. That's where this stuff shined. I was cool, but not nearly as cold as people in the ride who did not have rain gear; they were shivering, wet and miserable, I was just miserable. I don't know if I'd wear these for summer training rides when it's warm due to sweating, but when it's cooler and raining, they are great! They are a bit long so that when you're in the top of your pedal stroke they don't ride up and expose your ankles, these are made for biking, not walking. I would like to see a bit more reflective material on the calves for when I bike solo or in small groups, there's not much reflectivity to the rear. Only reason for one less star is I can't rate longevity, I only wore them twice for probably a total of 80 miles.Kept me dry! I used same brand jacket, pants and foot covers. I used it for a 10 day, 1,000 mile cross country bike bike ride. It rained intermittently for 5 of the days and several of the days I rode in the rain for greater than 5 hours at a time. Breathable? I did get moist from sweat under the rain gear but nothing compared to having no rain gear. A thin layer of wool clothing helped. Cold once the sun went down but not an issue with the gear. It is a shell, add under layers to keep warm. It's my first cycling rain gear so don't know what to compare it to. I did one previous ride with a military issued gortex rain pants which seemed to work very similar except the gortex pants were much bulkier. However, the gortex pants were not intended for cycling and I have no idea if a gortex cycling rain gear is any heavier/bulkier.2. Fit Perfectly. I'm 5ft 8 in tall, wt. 225 lbs. Many cycling gear sizing is extremely small. I can wear a large shirt at standard retail clothing brands but in many cycling brands I require 3XL-5XL. Showers Pass pant sizing fit my waist, hips, thighs as expected. Longer legs than my inseam but lets face it, most bicycle riders who are willing to ride in the rain have a thinner build than I. However, the pants worked fine while cycling.I’m on the maiden voyage but was inspired. Took them out, felt good, good fit. Still they didn’t appear much different that the $35 waterproof pair I’d been using in a pinch. Wrong! I bought for rain/it’s a bit cool. First, they breath! Second, Articulated knees. Put a mallet in my hand and I’m playing polo, but in the “saddle”, I’m amazed at how good the space in the knees feels.Update: I was blessed with 4 days of drizzle and rain to try these out! They work as advertised. They are long but not much space in the crotch. I'm 5'8" 150 and got the medium and the fit is perfect for thin layers underneath but size up if you want thicker layers. They kept the rain out and did breath, though not as much as the shell rain coat I wear. I wore a thin thermal underneath in 48 degree wind and rain with out getting hot or cold.I like these things, they are warm and waterproof. They are a bit sung, noisy, but comfortable. I would have like pockets so they would make good hiking pants as well. Price was right, there were many cheaper versions on Amazon but buying from an American company with quality stuff is worth it. Shower Pass has some great products, I am just lusting after the Elite 2.1 jacket, just too costly for my budgeti'm 5'7 tall with 34 waist, 75 kg,30 inseam ,i have stronger upper legs and strong butt, bought this pants in size medium ,it was good in length (covered my shoe and ankle fine --this pants inseam it is around 32'--- but was too tight on my upper legs and on my butt, returned it,got refund fast ,bought another one in size large, large one feels better---looks slightly baggy when i stand in it but just perfect when i ride my bicycle ,not tight or not baggy at all, the length is a bit too long --around 33 inch but that is fine when i pedaling ,covers my shoes well, like the material and style, nice strong material, not ride it yet in heavy rain, will update how it worksI generally liked the product, but the fit is a little restrictive and the pants will get saturated depending on how hard it is raining. I will say I was glad to have them on in my recent ride through heavy rain.Update on my previous review: The customer service at Showers Pass has been excellent and I received a warranty replacement of the pants. The replacement pants fit as expected and appear to be better manufactured than the previous pants. And hence an upgrade in the rating. Can't comment on durability yet, as I only received them recently.Previous review:While I like the practical waterproof design, I am very unhappy with the lack of durability (bought them less than a year ago). The outer material and some of the seams in the seat / inside thigh area fall apart after using them for maybe about 100 miles total for commuting by bicycle in rainy weather. Will check out the warranty.Be aware that the sizing is odd. I am 5'9", 145 pounds, with a 31-32 inch waist. I ordered a size medium, and the waist is very tight - I am having a tailor add 2 inches to the elastic around the waist. A size large would be much too long for me.
